The Power of Calmness

The Power of Calmness

With so much going on in our lives, it is impossible not to feel anxiety occasionally. Each of us has a multitude of responsibilities, important decisions to make, situations, and people that we constantly find ourselves wrestling with.

But we must be careful and ensure that we operate from a position of God's kingdom within and not become temperamental because of the chaos around us. As humans, we usually have a strong tendency to make decisions and react based on what we see. When calamity and craziness are happening all around us, that is what we usually focus on. Focusing on the storms around us causes us to panic, make irrational decisions, and make poor choices that garner lackluster outcomes.

The power of calmness is not in the absence of calamity. Rather, it is through articulating the kingdom of God within you through the force of faith that what you see must be transformed by what you say.

In the scriptures, we find a story where Jesus and His disciples are in a boat during a wild storm. The scripture tells us that the storm was so powerful that the waves started filling the boat—I.e., what was outside of the boat was now in the boat. All of the disciples came to Jesus out of fear. They woke Him up and said, "Do you not care if we die?" It wasn't that Jesus lacked concern for his friends; instead, He had a lot of calmness because of His faith.

When Jesus woke up, before he spoke to his disciples, he spoke to the storm. He said three words. He said, "Peace, be still." Let me encourage you with this: Just because there's a storm around you doesn't permit it to operate within you. Allow the kingdom of God within you through the force of faith to transform the calamity you see by what you say.

‍Listen, Alex, this sounds good and all, but this is not always easy. If you really knew what was going on, then you could understand me and why I'm a wreck right now. Interestingly enough, when Jesus spoke to His disciples, he said, "Why are you so fearful? Is it because you have no faith?" When we don't operate in faith, we are operating in fear. When you find yourself navigating life's storms, you have to be careful of what you speak. You are either going to fuel your faith, or you will fuel your fear.

Remember when the disciples all came to wake Jesus up? Here's my question... Who was left driving the boat? When you are fueled by fear, you can and will make some irrational and poor decisions. Operating in fear can cause you to stop navigating life. My friends, just because chaos is happening around you, don't start speaking negatively and allow it to get inside you.

You and I have been called to remain cool, calm, and collected. Not because we want people to think we have it going on, but rather because of the powerful force of faith operating inside you. Don't speak about your problems; speak to your problems.

When you remain calm because of your faith, you allow God to operate in signs, miracles, and wonders through you and for you. Remember, it is impossible to operate in fear and in the kingdom of God simultaneously. When you choose to fuel your faith, I believe you are setting yourselves up to prosper, see breakthroughs, and realize a level of success that you couldn't imagine.
