It’s Time To Expand

Have you ever found yourself in a place in life where you start asking yourself, “what’s next”? Most of the times this is an indication that it is time for you to expand. Notice that when God created Adam & Eve he planted them in a garden. Yet, the instruction was for them to fill the earth. God never expected Adam & Eve to stay in one place. The expectation was that they would take what they had learned in that garden and expand it all throughout the earth.

When you and I feel the stirring that it is time to expand, much like a rubber band or anything with elasticity to it, we will encounter some resistance with it. If we are being honest, most of the resistance we encounter is our thoughts. We start thinking thoughts like, “I’m too old”, “It’s too late for me”, “I won’t qualify”, “Chiille, that train has already left the building”.  When we think these things and say them to ourselves, we are inevitably dismissing the natural God-given instruction to expand.

In the scripture, a young guy by the name of Jabez wasn’t born into wealth. He wasn’t born into a family that had great influence. As a matter of fact his mother named him ‘Jabez’, which means ’sorrow’ because he reminded her of the pain he caused her when he was born. But Jabez knew, that just because he was born in that condition, didn’t mean he had to stay there. He knew he was intricately designed by the creator to expand. After enduring years of frustration in one place, listen to the prayer he prayed to God. He says, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory…”

Whether your place of frustration is physical, spiritual, financial or even relational, I want you to know that this is not the time to make friends with redundancy. God is blowing a fresh wind of expansion in your direction.  King David says it like this, “The boundary lines have fallen in pleasant places for me ; surely I have a delightful inheritance.” Let us posture our thoughts, words and spirit with this same fire of expecting such an expansion that it results in a delightful inheritance.
