Its Time to Dust Off Your Dreams

Its Time to Dust Off Your Dreams

All of us at one point or another in our lives has had a dream. We’ve had a desire to do something amazing. To make a big impact on people as well as our family.  All of us have had dreams and desires where only we can see the inner workings of our imaginations playing out the vivid details in such dramatic fashion that we say…Man, that would be nice- I wish I could get there.

But the reality is this: As life has moved forward, our dreams have begun to decline. As we have prioritized bills, relationships, children, our income and our health, we have added our dreams to the collection on our bookshelves, allowing them to collect dust becoming items of non-importance.  And as a consequence, even though many of us talk chipper, sound professional and try to keep a positive outlook on life, the truth is that many of us are hurting.  Some of us wake up depressed and don’t know why. Deep down, there is an unexplained sadness and or hurt. The scripture says it like this: Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life (Proverbs 13:12).

How many times have you had to put off what you want to do because you’ve had to prioritize what you have to do? When this becomes our habitual pattern of living life, sooner or later our hearts will become sick. We will not be able to operate in the capacity in which we were created for. It is impossible to maximize life, when we minimize our dreams. Our dreams and desires must become part of our daily conversations if we are ever going to hear, accept and maximize the calling on our lives.

The word ‘desire’ in Latin literally translates to :Of the Father. God did not put dreams and desires on the inside of you to be put on the back burner. No, God gave you those dreams so that you could walk in the power of your purpose, so that you can walk in the goodness of His glory, so that you could become the answer to people’s problem.

You might say, well Alex that sounds good and all but, my ship has sailed. I would love to do what’s in my heart. But, I don’t have the money for it. I don’t have the resources, I don’t have the connections to pull it off-I wouldn’t even know where to start.

When Moses sent 12 spies to the promise land to scout out the area, ten of them came back and said, Moses, the land is beautiful. It has mountains that literally drip with milk and honey. The fruit is humungous. But, we can’t take the land. There are giants there. We look like grasshoppers. There’s no way we can have what was promised to us. The scripture says that they brought back an evil report. What they said was true, but what they said was evil, because it was spoken out of unbelief. Don’t allow your lack of resources, connections, experience to become the giants that stand in your way. Don’t allow the obstacles you see cause you to speak evil. Like Joshua and Caleb, I’m asking you to speak out of faith. Don’t walk in unbelief because of what’s in front of you, stand up and walk boldly because of who is in you.

The scripture says it like this: Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. Today I want to encourage you to dust off your dreams, put away unbelief, and take action.
